Pink Toilet Program

Pink Toilet ParadeJoin the Pink Toilet Parade

We began thinking about using pink toilets in our portable toilet rental business to solve some problems inherent to our industry.

The first was to try and keep the ladies happy by providing gender specific facilities, only doing something more than simply changing the gender sign by the door handle. We continually receive complaints from the ladies over problems of dual gender usage, please refer to your imagination and experience to understand what we mean.

Second was to satisfy the legislation requiring gender specific restrooms in our province. There is specific legislation defining the numbers of toilet required to satisfy both genders and even though we aren’t aware of too many toilet cops, the legislation is there for a purpose; essentially we are strongly encouraged to comply. Again, we wanted to go beyond the standard, and somewhat weak and largely ineffective, efforts.

The third was to initiate the Pink Toilet Program. We first began considering the concept after seeing pink post-it notes in Staples. And then how could anyone not notice the pink attire on all the NFL football players on that notable on that fall of 2010 Sunday afternoon. The CBCF and their US counterparts have done all they can to capitalize on the pink concept; it is now generally accepted as THE fundraising trademark.

The CBCF, except for that 1 in 100, is all about the ladies: our mothers, wives, girlfriends, and daughters. The pink toilet program is intended to not only address the terrifying news that one has breast cancer, something that has affected most families, by generating additional funding for the fine doctors and researchers trying desperately to cure this dreaded disease, but to do all we can as an industry.

We call this a win win win win situation. The CBCF receives their always needed funding, the ladies are not forced to use men’s restrooms, our industry gets some positive, albeit well deserved, recognition, and the operators solve the complaints department while donating to the CBCF and making a marginal return in doing so.

In accordance with a Cause Marketing Agreement, as the Pink Toilet Program (PTP) goes, the operator and customer agree on a rental price and a specified and minimum amount to be donated to the CBCF by each party. Additionally, the portable restroom manufacturer and distributor will donate a specified amount, in accordance with another Cause Marketing Agreement, for each pink toilet sold in Canada, the US, or around the world.
